18. To Pimp A Butterfly- Kendrick Lamar (2015)

Truthfully, I am not really sure what I can say about this album that hasn’t already been said. It’s probably the single greatest album of the decade, and arguably of the century. It’s message is admirable and important. At a time when artists are encouraged more and more to stop being political, Lamar stands defiant and brilliant. His lyrics and rapping are the best he’s ever done. Everything is delivered with precision and purpose, for an album that clocks in at close to 80 minutes, there is absolutely no filler on this record anywhere. Every track, syllable, drum beat are indispensable and that’s one of the highest compliments you can possibly give a musician. I mean Disect Podcast even did a full season analysis of the album, and I can’t recommend highly enough that you go give it a listen right after you spin this again.
