It’s pretty crazy to think that we only got a single Pearl Jam record through the entirety of the 2010s. One of the most prolific bands of the 1990s and 2000s toured extensively until the decade’s final year, but also barley released new music. Before we get much further, I’ll cede that this isn’t even close to being Pearl Jam’s record. But I’d also be lying if I didn’t admit that I absolutely love this record and like all Pearl Jam albums, benefits greatly from seeing Pearl Jam play the songs on tour. A song like “Mind Your Manners” benefits from the live environment when Eddie and the boys can put the punch behind it that it deserves. “Sirens” is great mid-tempo Pearl Jam single that slides neatly into their discography as a great option for the mid show breath the band need take during their marathon length live shows. And of course theres the album closer “Future Days” a stunningly beautiful final song that I love so much, I even picked it as a reading for my own wedding. It may have been the only Pearl Jam record we got this decade, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an absolute blast.
